It was an easy drive to Moree, lots more cotton farms. The town is a really nice, tidy town. Had a relaxing stay. Walked lots and had a good look at the art deco buildings which have been restored. It's only 1km from the Mehi River Caravan Park where we stayed - really enjoyed it. They have a great swimming pool as well as two artesian bore pools - one cold and one hot water. Met some really nice people from all walks of life while having a soak at the end of the day.

Walked a couple of hundred metres from the caravan park down the road to the Artesian Bore Baths. It's a pool filled with hot artesian water (around 41 degrees) and best of all its Free. We went a couple of times late in the afternoon and it was so relaxing. We looked like a couple of boiled lobsters by the time we finished. What a great way to end the day !

Lightning Ridge is a really interesting place with so many quirky characters. I think that everyone in this small town owns an opal mine. We saw a lot of cheap opals, but the good stuff, the pieces I like I couldn't afford. Would have to sell all my assets and then some LOL.

The people are so friendly and have a real love of life. We met an interesting guy (Ron Canlin) who has been carving statues in the sandstone of his and his partners working opal mine. What a unique place. The carvings and paintings on the walls are simply amazing. The tour was well worth it. So happy we went. We went early and were the only ones there for about an hour and had undivided attention. What luck. There are some other interesting looking tours too but we found the prices for some of them are a bit steep considering they don't have pensioner or concession discounts. They really are doing themselves a dis-service as they are missing out on a lot of the grey nomads by making it too expensive. Many more of us would go if it was more affordable.

We have seen some strange sites for such a small place, like a castle being built by a fellow for the past 25 years. And the Astronomers Monument
that is really quite strange. It's a great outback town...quite a few good artists too. A really great place to visit.

Easy drive to Narrabri, narrow roads though in decent condition. Caravan Park is nearly in town - very quiet and new managers are really working on making the place a goer and I think they will succeed. We walked to the RSL and had dinner one night - my goodness what a great meal ! Staff were so friendly, couldn't do enough for you.

We went out to Mt Kaputar National Park - WOW. The rock formations at Sawn Rocks are unbelievable - they look just like felled logs. Also went to Wee Waa and saw a few cotton fields ready for harvesting. The CSIRO Australian Telescope near Yarrie Lake was interesting. It's an unstaffed display but I would have enjoyed it better if someone was there to explain things. Some of it was a bit too techy for me.

The Narrabri bakery is fan-bloody-tastic. Oh boy, there goes another notch in the belt line LOL.

Rained on and off nearly all the way to Tamworth from Coomba Bay. But what a fantastic drive. The scenery is fabulous. We drove through Woko National Park and Nowendoc National Park. Stunning ! Parts were very steep and winding, and we took our time towing the van, especially Port Stephens Cut. But we took our time and the Ford didn't miss a beat. Weren't able to take any photos because we couldn't stop anywhere though we will never forget the scenery.

Caravan Park is in a good location, short walk into town. Pretty area and a few interesting things to see. Have found people here to be very friendly. Really enjoyed our stay. We will work out tonight where we are heading to next !
