Drove to Port Lincoln (only 46km) because we had booked the caravan in for a service (again). Also the car needed an oil change etc. We keep clocking up the mileage, so we have to pay for it heh. Decided to stay at a caravan park around 7.5km out of town. It's called the Port Lincoln Caravan Park in North Shields and is behind the Liberty Roadhouse, right on the coast. Great, large sites and has a fabulous walkway along the coastline all the way into town. Staff are so nice with plenty of local knowledge which they are happy to pass on. We were really surprised how great it was.

Did plenty of walking and many visits to the bakery (again ! LOL) Also called in to the fish place (AUSTAR) again and bought really cheap local fish and prawns. So fresh and delicious. Really the best.

The weather has been periods of squally rain, windy and then the sun bursts through with beautiful blue sky, then it starts all over again. It is winter after all. Absolutely love it. Slowly making our way back home....happy and sad about that. We have loved the travel so much. Would love to do it all over again and again and again.

So happy to be back at Tumby Bay again. We managed to get a caravan site overlooking the water again and it's gorgeous. So lovely and relaxed - great walking weather. Arrived Saturday, don't know how long we will stay. We will see what the weather does. So far, so good...

Decided to pass through Whyalla again. Enjoyed it last time and wanted to see a bit more. Weather still good - weather gods have been so kind to us this trip. Can't believe our luck. It was supposed to rain, became overcast, then it blew away. Cool but not cold. Luscious ! It wasn't windy either, so walking around was really pleasant.

This time we stayed at Whyalla Caravan Park. The lady who looked after us (Kerry) was really lovely. So helpful, cheerful, really made us feel welcome. It's a few Km's out of town and we really preferred it to the caravan park on the beach. They are slowly doing the park up and we are happy to recommend them to everyone.

Port August, South Australia

Arrived around 11am after another day of outback driving. We had heard about the noise from shunting trains during the night so stayed in an old caravan park 7.5km out of town. Turned out really quiet, so we slept well. Unfortunately the park is becoming run down, but it is being cleaned and has plenty of hot water. The office is no longer in use as it's used as a store room and it took us 2 days to find someone to pay our money. Only cost $25 a night, so no complaints here LOL.

Went for a drive through the Flinders Ranges and it was a shock to the senses. They have had good rain here and the ranges were beautiful and green, and with the warmer, sunnier weather the wildflowers are beginning to open up.

Went to Quorn on Monday morning and it was really quiet. Called in to the Pichee Richee Railway, but it only runs on Sunday so we missed out by one day.

Had an enjoyable stay.

Woomera, South Australia

sunny 19 °C

Another dusty, dry drive. Heaps of mulloch heaps extending more than 50km's beyond Coober Pedy. A really sunny day, though cooler with a chilly breeze - around 19 Deg C.

Walked to the historical museum from the caravan park - found it really interesting with a good display about the development of long-range weapons systems starting in 1947.
